Aquatic Animals
The artworks depict the biodiversity of Taiwan's coral reefs and coastal fish through compositions of "rectangles" and "circles." An array of pieces utilize silk cloth as the base material with an open mounting method, retaining the transparency of the silk to portray the clarity of Taiwan's oceans. When painting corals, mineral pigments are used to depict their main colors. Using small brushstrokes and delicate techniques, a variety of mineral pigments such as cinnabar red, vermilion, gamboge, and ivory white are layered to depict the vividness, depth, and three-dimensionality of the corals, serving to make them more exquisite and realistic. Additionally, within the background, different shades of eastern gouache are used to render the differing ocean hues, light and shadow effects of the northern, central, and southern regions, adding depth and layers to the images with unique regional characteristics.
